CFD optimization with HyperWorks
HyperMesh’s morphing technology (HyperMorph) enables the user to generate new designs based on an existing mesh, simply and easily:
- Specify deformable regions on the mesh (MorphVolumes)
- Move corner nodes with mouse
- Obtain a smooth deformation of the mesh
A variety of designs can be generated by scaling the deformation.
In addition, these mesh changes can easily be used later as shape variables for optimization with
HyperStudy, Altair’s design study tool to perform:
- Design of Experiments (DOE)
- Optimization
- Stochastic studies
The coupling of Morphing, HyperStudy and a CFD solver allows the user to run different study types in an automated manner to improve the performance. The extensive read/write interfaces for commonly used CFD solvers (e.g. StarCD, Fluent, CFD++, ACUSIM, SC/Tetra) make the optimization process run smoothly.
HyperStudy also allows combined fluid-structure optimization by managing both CFD and structural FEA analyses, combining the results to solve your toughest multi-disciplinary optimization (MDO) problems.
